BLAST!

SON OF A BITCH!

Don’t make a move if you need to stay alive.

Put your arms down! Surrender!

BLAST

Am I into realty? Am I into a state of self denial? The cops arrived in time. There was a big commotion all over. Putting all my strength to the weakened body, I stood up. Lifting her, we walked towards the cop’s end, dodging bullets flying in all directions.

“No! Don’t shoot at us! We are innocent!”

BLAST

BLAST

MOTHER FUCKER!

She let loose my hand and I was not aware of it. After reaching into cop’s zone, I turned back to see her. She was smiling vaguely at me and did a 180* anti close wise rotation. Her back was covered with blood and she collapsed to ground.

“No… HELP!!” I screamed, and cops ran along with me towards her. The red strain was spreading fast. I threw her onto my lap.

“Wake up! Don’t die… No! No!!”

I was shaking uncontrollably. Her eyes met mine and she smiled again.

Her fingers rummaged my hair.

“L…OV…E…. YO….U… KA….R….T….H….I…C…K!”

Her eyes rolled upwards. She gave a last twitch and was still.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”

I screamed terribly. I wanted nothing more than her to call back, yet she lied silent.

THREE MONTHS LATER.

I was no more normal like before; irregular to classes, insomnia, neurotic, screams, invisible, left out, forgotten at times and many things that couldn’t be put in words. Sometimes, I behave like a normal human and the next moment I don’t know what’s happening around me and what I am doing. When I get back to normal, I could see my parent and friends with worried and traumatized expressions. What I am up to? My friends kept on telling “you are better off without her and you deserve better I know it will be hard to keep your mind off of her, but just try to distract yourself. Hang out with us, watch movies, doodle or draw. Just keep your mind busy away from her. It’s okay to be sad, but in the long run, you will find someone even better who treats you like a prince But to all, I had only one answer- mirthless laugh. A camera was kept inside my room to record how I behave and here are excerpts from the clicks.

Times I used to rip my shirt like Salman Bhai and put on the white dress, the one I wore on the night she died, walk into the streets. People were frightened thinking I had murdered someone moments before, mistaking the blood marks. I was taken into police custody thrice and thanks to my parent (producing Doctor’s Certificate), I was let off. The fourth time, Inspector Ji dropped me at my house. I can put up a slight connection with Salman Bhai, not for ripping my shirt off, but both are now WANTED.

My parents had enough of my nonsense. They sought advice from their friends and decided to take me to a black magician- KAANA GUMTAAZ alias KANAGU. To those who are unaware of KAANA (spell GHAANA), it is a type of Tamil song, often accompanied by the percussion of Dappan koothu. It is characterized as a fast beat song, with less emphasis on meaning, sung at a celebration. This guy is an expert in kicking the bad spirits out of innocents by singing KAANA songs. So this magician was asked to attend me as my parent felt the SPIRIT of her was inside me and he being the best necromancer in the town can cure me was their hope. He practiced magic at PARANGIMALAI JYOTHI (A mountain down south, minuscule to HIMALAYAS) Shakila, Pamela Anderson are his deities.

My parents left me alone inside his room. I was wearing the same white shirt. He looked at it penetratingly. And then in a loud, awful voice he started to sing

“TELL ME WHO YOU ARE? WHERE YOU ARE FROM? WHAT YOU DID?”

“Isn’t this from Back Street Boys?”

“No cross questions, you bad ghost.” And then he beat me with a long cane.

I was wailing in pain. He didn’t listen to my cries or screams and continued to assault me. In minutes, frustrated with his failed attempt in extracting details from me or tired of battering, he called my parent back. They were helpless on seeing my situation, the only thing they need is to get me cured.

“In my 15 years, I have never seen a case like this; Stubborn and Adamant.”

“Is there any way to bring him back to normal?”

“Probably and precisely, only one solution”

“What is it??”

“The shirt”

And his trembling fingers pointed to my blood soaked white shirt.

“This blood stain is the reason for all.”

“What should we do?”

“Who daag, A daag, Kaun sa bhi daag ho, Surf Excel hai na!”

“What?”

“Whatever may be the stains, Surf Excel is the only solution!”

“Anda kara inda kara enda karaiya irundaalum Surf Excel irukku la??”

My mom dropped present at his feet and sought for blessings. He took a rupee from it and gave it to my mom. “Go and get Surf Excel”
