Federer's William Tell trick

Roger Federer has nothing left to prove and hardly anything to lose. Inevitable questions about his poor form, aura of invincibility and chink in the armor arise when he loses but he answers them in emphatic fashion. Despite pocketing the Australian Open, by his standards this year is a flop as he stumbled at Quarter Finals in clay and his favorite grass but he remained calm and unfazed. A semi-final loss in US Open further speculated the theory of End of Fed-Era but Federer hit back with Shanghai Masters final and a win at Stockholm. I was amazed by this video- "William Tell" trick and my devotion, admiration grew stronger for him. Check it; Federer delivers two powerful pin-point serves that knock a can off the head of a man at distance.

Federer's answer was "You know how it is with magicians; they don't tell how their tricks work." You are indeed a magician Fed. Love you!

Feder-era: Fading into Darkness

A very sad months passed for me as a tennis fan, seeing Federer defeated at the quarters, for the second consecutive Grandslam tournament. For the first time since 2004 French Open, Federer's name was missing in Semi-Finals list. For a player to make 18 out of 19 slam finals and then scrape his way to 2 consecutive QF's, the warning lights must be flashing. If Rolland Garros is an alarm, given he is ordinary in clay, losing in his comfortable turf, Wimbledon is the first nail in coffin.

Roger was too passive on court, this Wimbledon. This talk of the end of Feder-era could be disspelled quickly if he wins at Flushing Meadows but i suspect the comeback wont be as great as in 2009. Even my confidence in him winning back the US Open is dripping. I, like everyone would love to be proven wrong.

PS: Not a big post this time, left short of words like my God.

There is No Fucking Monarchy

It was not expected to happen, Juan Martín del Potro of Argentina did what seemed to be the unthinkable on Monday night as he left Roger Federer and the rest of the tennis world, stunned as he subdued the five-times champion in a pulsating five-set final 3-6, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to claim the United States Open for his first major championship. For Federer, it was a case of so close, yet so far. Del Potro led Federer by two sets in the French Open semi-finals before the Swiss rallied for a dramatic five-set victory. But there was no such escape this time.

One of the reasons we follow sports is because of their unscripted nature: You might think you know who's going to win and you might think you know what's going to happen, but you never really know. Congrats Potro for playing a wonderful game and he deserves every moment of it. There are some defeats more triumphant than victories. Thank you, Federer, for enabling us to identify the new kid.

Watch this tweener alias between-the-legs, back-to-the-net, cross court winner from the baseline. This will definitely be the shot of his life. You wake up at 2 AM, thanks to the absence of dish-tv, tune into JUSTIN TV online, to see your man live, and he, closing the match with top-class shot gives you Goosebumps and light your muted eyes. His racquet is like a wand, it does what he wishes it to do.The mark of a master is the ability to make the difficult seem a doddle. Against a shot like that, there is little you can do. Djokovic has no chance to return it and stood in awe. The New York crowd rose to its feet and Djokovic threw his opponent a wry smile. It’s a kind of shot that all the players’ play and only the No 1 perfect it.

PS 1:
Part II of my KISS KISS BANG BANG is getting darker as it goes. So, I need few days time to finish it off. Sorry for the delay!

PS 2:
Foreseen Federer’s victory and done a post with it. But Nostradamus failed this time. :D I’d no heart to delete it. And I don’t want a post to be published failing to mention KING’s greatness. So I included this video. Again, Congratulations to Potro.
